Aboriginal Professional Speaker

I have given many talks, speeches, interviews over the years. Many have been related to my work and how events have evolved in my life.
My background may be similar to yours or in fact totally opposite. My elevator story is, born one of 15 kids, living in a 900 sq. ft. home with no running water. Sports gave me self worth as a youth, but lacking in self esteem among my peers both native and non-native, as a result, never graduated high school. I excelled in sports, but developed an alcohol problem early on in my youth. I quit drinking at 25, having been married 4 years. Once the bottle was gone, my present and future began to take off. I aspired to be a leader imagining becoming the Chief of our community. Dream realized as the youngest Chief at 29, ever. Elected to council and served (2) 2 year terms. My careers include real estate sales, First Nation band manager, economic development, advisor roles. Eventually, my biggest role would involve into Chairman of the development of Casino Rama. This was a $200 million dollar project which employed over 3000 people when Casino Rama opened in 1996. Following the opening my capacity changed to a Vice President role with Casino Rama for 5 years. My family includes, 2 adult children now and a lovely wife of 35 years.
Many events, challenges, learnings have taken place over this life of mine. I am more than willing to share how a young boy who rarely spoke, became a leader in my own First Nation community and the larger community.
